The Belt and Road Initiative has witnessed many projects come to fruition, among which the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Railway) is a major project. Employees of CREC not only realized their dreams, but also harvested a lifetime of happiness during the construction process. A case in point is CHEN Hao and his wife Candace who works for the Railway Project Department of China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CREC.

CHEN is a translator of Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway Project Department of CR2. He met Candace at the restaurant nearby. Candace told him that her sister married to a Chinese in 2012 and lived a happy life in China. She learned about China from her sister and yearned for China. That day, CHEN and Candace had a nice talk and favorable impressions for each other.

Facing the hardship of cross-cultural relationship, he and she eventually came together. Soon after, they married in China, creating a beautiful love story.
At the end of that year, they have a baby, hoping their family could enhance the friendship between China and Ethiopia.
The “Belt and Road" Initiative has promoted inter-connectivity and people-to-people exchanges among countries. The Railway is a flagship project under the “Belt and Road" Initiative. It is not only a platform for CHEN and Candace to expand their personal career, but also a place for them to gain a transnational relationship and have a happy family.
